How To Unlock Bootloader, Install TWRP Recovery, Root And Check Root On Huawei Mate 10 Pro

Did you buy yourself a brand-new Huawei mate 10 pro and wanted to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP and also to root it? No problem, we're here for you. Huawei Mate 10 turns out to one of the best phones in Huawei smartphone line (if already not the best). The Mate 10 competes with the likes of Galaxy S8, Moto Z2 Force, HTC U11 and other high end smartphones when it comes to pricing and specs.

Anyways, am not here to tell you about the specs and what the news of Huawei mate 10 is all about. Instead, I'm here to share with you a walkthrough on how you can unlock Huawei mate 10 pro bootloader, install TWRP recovery, root and also to check root. However, I'll be using Magisk to root the phone and also install TWRP Recovery along the process but before then, take your time to read the disclaimer as well as the important things to do first before proceeding with the tutorial.

» Important:
★ Ensure total backup of your Data before proceeding with the steps below.

★ Endure that you have at least 70-80 percent battery on your Razer Phone.

★ Make sure you have enabled your USB Debug hand OEM Unlock. To do this, Navigate to your Settings => About Phone => Click on Build Number Seven Times to become a developer => Head-back to your Settings and tap on Developers Option => Toggle on USB Debugging and OEM Unlock.

★ Ensure that your ADB and Fastboot are setup and working fine on your computer (Windows, Mac or Linux).

» Pre-Requisites:
Download and Install Google drivers for Windows (there's no drivers for Mac and Linux users). Once installed please restart your Windows machine.

» How To: Bootloader Unlock On Huawei Mate 10 Pro:
★Get Bootloader Unlock Code From Huawei:
Click here to sign in or sign up to your Huawei account if you don't own an amount yet.

Once logged in click on Unlock, and Accept the terms and conditions.
Once the next page below information:-

Select since EMUI 5.0

On your phone, head-over to your Settings => System => About Phone and enter the serial number in the field.

On your phone, go to the dialer and enter code *#06# and IMEI should pop up. Enter the IMEI in the IMEI number field.

On your phone, go to dialer and enter code *#*#1357946#*#* and product id will show up. Enter product id in product id field.

Enter the verification code from image in the corresponding field and click on Commit. You will get a message saying your unlocking password is 123456789.

Note: We used the code "123456789" as an example, each device has it’s own unique code. You need to note down this code and also, remember the code in case sensitive.

★ Boot Huawei Mate 10 Pro Into Fastboot Mode:

Connect Huawei mate 10 pro to computer using usb cable.
Open command prompt (for Windows) or Terminal (for Mac and Linux).
Navigate to platform-tools folder and issue below command.

Windows:

adb reboot bootloader

Mac and Linux:

./adb reboot bootloader

★ Unlock Huawei mate 10 pro Bootloader:

Once in fastboot mode connect Huawei mate 10 pro to computer using USB cable.
Open command prompt (for Windows) or Terminal (for Mac and Linux).
Navigate to platform-tools folder.

However, enter below command to check if device was connected successfully.

Windows:

fastboot -i 0x1532 devices

Mac and Linux:

./fastboot -i 0x1532 devices

You will see your device’s serial number show up if device was connected successfully. If not then something is wrong with drivers.
Next, you have to enter below command to unlock the bootloader.

Note: Remove the UNLOCKPASSWORD in the box below and put your device unlock password. Example: 123456789

Windows:

fastboot oem unlock unlockpassword

Mac and Linux:

./fastboot oem unlock unlockpassword

Now, You will see a warning message about Unlock Bootloader on Huawei mate 10 pro, use Volume buttons to navigate to Yes and Power button to select Yes.

Finally, your device will now reboot, wipe all data and then boot into Android. All done and you've successfully unlock Huawei mate 10 bootloader, without wasting much time, let's jump right into

» How To: Flash Huawei Mate 10 Pro TWRP Recovery:
★ Downloads:

Download TWRP Recovery - Official (Rename to recovery.img and place it in platform-tools folder, Place the twrp-installer zip file in internal memory of Razer Phone.)
Download Magisk - Latest Version and no verity (place the zip file in internal storage of your Huawei mate 10 pro.)
Download Root Checker app (Play store).

★ Boot Huawei Mate 10 Pro Into Fastboot Mode:
Turn off your Huawei mate 10 pro, hold the power button and the up volume button at the same time until it boots to recovery. However, you can also turn on your Huawei mate 10 pro and proceed the below steps:

Connect Huawei mate 10 pro to computer using USB cable.
Open command prompt (for Windows) or Terminal (for Mac and Linux).
Navigate to platform-tools folder and issue below command.

Windows:

adb reboot bootloader

Mac and Linux:

./adb reboot bootloader

★ Boot To TWRP Recovery:

Open command prompt (for Windows) or Terminal (for Mac and Linux).
Navigate to platform-tools folder and issue below command.

Windows:

fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery.img

Mac and Linux:

./fastboot flash boot recovery.img && fastboot reboot

Congrats!!! All done and complete, you will now boot into TWRP recovery and let's move on with

» How To Root Huawei Mate 10 Pro:
★ Boot To TWRP:
Unplug usb cable, and reboot device by holding volume up + power button. You will boot into TWRP recovery. However, you can also boot into TWRP recovery after installing TWRP by issuing below commands.

Windows

fastboot boot recovery.img

Mac and Linux

./fastboot boot recovery.img

Once in TWRP click on Install, then select Magisk zip file downloaded in Downloads, and swipe to confirm flashing zip file.

After a successful magisk flashing in your Huawei mate 10 pro, repeat the same process to flash no verity zip file downloaded in Download section.

★ Reboot Into Android
Head-back to TWRP main menu, then on Reboot and then on System and you will boot into Android. Boom! all work are done, congratulations you have successfully rooted your Razer Phone. However, to confirm if your device is tied successfully or not then you have to

★ Check Razer Phone Root:
If by any chance you want to check if your Razer Phone is rooted or not, download Root Checker app from the Download section above, open it and click on Verify Root. If you are rooted you will get an appropriate message.
